Getting a boiler installed in London is not an easy or inexpensive process. It is with great acclamation that I thank a certain company for their outstanding work on this matter. You see, I had a friend call me on the phone a little while ago begging me for some help. Her boiler had gone caput and had left several of their pipes bursting for lack of heat. They needed a good plumber and a good central heating specialist. Earlier that year I had tried to help another friend in a similar pickle, and it had turned out disastrous. Still, my friend insisted that I help and so I tried my best. I told her of London plumber that also knew a bit about central heat.
My London based friend was very thankful for the telephone number. She was even more thankful at how everything turned out. You see, she called the plumber on the phone and told him about her central heating problem. The London plumber came over that day and inspected the scene. He had already obtained the blueprints to the house before he got there. He pulled them out and showed her some sketching he had made to improve the central heating system so this wouldn’t happen again. He told her how much he’d charge and my friend was shocked. It was a much lower figure than she had expected.
The plumber came back later that day and started work. First, he took out the old boiler. Then he installed a new one. The whole process was like clockwork. My friend was shocked at how fast he worked. When he fixed the central heating he started work on the plumbing. The burst pipes were out in a jiffy and he was installing new ones even faster. My friend barely had time to make him some tea before he was finished.
Now, my friend had heard horror stories about what might happen next. Some of her other friends in London had gotten false estimates from central heating engineers. They came in and did the job and then left a bill at twice what it was supposed to be. My friend knew she should have gotten her deal in writing, but she’s a bit timid and could not bring herself to demand it.
To her great surprise the bill was even less than what the plumber had supposed. She couldn’t believe it. She had received a whole new central heating system, and new pipes, for the price of just one of the jobs. The plumber laughed at her expression and told her to tell her friends about him. She promised she would.
It makes me happy to know that there is still an honest plumber in London. If my central heating ever goes out I might have to fly him out here to take a look. I know my friend in London is one of the lucky few. I had another friend with a similar central heating problem who did not have such a lucky experience. Still, it’s good to know at least one plumber in London takes his job seriously.
